Image Analysis of 'Provoked'

On the left is Naveen Andrews, called in Provoked Deepak, and on the right is Aishwarya. The image is showing us Naveen abusing Aishwarya, as Aishwarya's facial expression shows fear.

Analysing this image, we can talk about many stuff. Firstly looking at the camera angle, we can say that it is a medium shot of both Naveen and Aishwarya. This gives the chance for the audience to identify with the characters in the movie. Furthermore, looking at both their facial expression, Naveen looks aggressive as his eyes have got the anger in to them, where as Aishwarya is looking all scared and shutting the door. This clearly shows the audience that who the protagonist is. We can also say that male dominance still exist today and that we are leaving in a Patriarchal society.
